SUNY Oneonta Wrestling Sweeps Electric City Duals, Coach Ritter Hits 200-Win Milestone
SCRANTON, PA. — The Oneonta wrestling team dominated the field at the Electric City Duals and went 5-0 with 22 team pins to win the team title in Scranton, Sunday afternoon. Junior Jack Ryan (Trumbull, CT/) led the Red Dragons with four falls, all of which happened in the first period, and seniors Adonis Morano (Middletown, NY/Middletown), Santos Ocasio (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury), and Kenneth Sauer (Franklin/Franklin) recorded two pins.
Head coach Duane Ritter recorded his 200th career dual match victory at Oneonta in the Red Dragons 47-12 victory over the Scranton’s ‘B’ Team. Coach Ritter entered his 20th season this year at the helm for Oneonta and, so far, has a 202-144-4 record (.583%).

Oneonta won the first four matches against Scranton’s ‘A’ team. Freshman Billy Colloca (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon Senior High) won a 19-14 decision at 125, junior Danny Poggi (West Islip/West Islip) recorded a 15-6 major decision win at 133, and Ocasio and junior Anderson Klosner (Ilion/Central Valley Academy) pinned their opponents in 141 and 149, respectively. After Sauer took a 7-1 decision at 174, Oneonta closed out the match with three fall victories from Ryan at 184, junior Carson LiCastri (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow High School) at 197, and junior Kennith Jackson (New Orleans, LA/) in the heavyweight bout.

The Coker Wrestling team narrowly defeated Emmanuel College in a close match, with a final score of 21-20. Here is a breakdown of the individual match results:

Nine wolves claimed victory tonight with seven of those coming from falls, one from a technical fall and the last coming via major decision. In the lone exhibition match, the wolves claimed another victory via fall.
The fastest fall of the night came from the 165 Ib class with Asa Walton pinning in 46 seconds. Every wrestler who won via fall did not let their time match go out of the first period.

NEWBERRY, S.C. – The University of Montevallo Wrestling earned its first dual win in program history, Wednesday, with a 32-15 win over Allen before splitting the road trip with a loss to No. 23 Newberry 31-14. In just the second competition in program history, the Falcons picked up the program’s first dual win in dominant fashion. Montevallo won seven-out-of-10 bouts and compiled two major decision victories and three pins. Following the Allen win, UM took on No. 23 Newberry and battled with the Wolves, who were picked to finish second in Conference Carolinas, for most of the match. The Falcons earned wins in three weight classes with a tech fall, pin and a decision. “I’m extremely proud of how our guys wrestled. It’s incredible to start the season off 1-0 against Allen and get our first ever dual win,” said Head Coach Daniel Ownbey. “Then to wrestle Newberry as tough as we did was a great sign. Freshman Carson Freeman, a native of Alabaster, Alabama, and former Thompson standout Gabe Hixenbaugh were the only to Falcons to finish 2-0 on the evening. Ukraine Women’s Wrestling National Team Comes to Greensboro College This Week
Greensboro, NC – This week, Greensboro College will have the great privilege of hosting the defending World Cup Champion Ukraine Women’s National Wrestling Team, as they tour the city and host wrestling clinics on campus inside the Royce Reynolds Family Student Life Center Gymnasium.
This historic event will begin Thursday night when the team will host a community panel discussion, which will center around the current life in Ukraine. The panel discussion will take place in the Proctor West building at 7:30 PM.
On Saturday morning from 8:30 AM-12:00 PM, the team will host a free wrestling clinic that is open to athletes of all ages. This clinic will take place in Reynolds Gymnasium and is a potential once in a lifetime opportunity for wrestlers in the community to learn and interact with the Ukrainian Women’s National Team.
On Sunday afternoon, the team will host a free one hour long clinic for women’s high school wrestlers from 2:00-3:00 PM inside Reynolds Gymnasium. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State’s Jakob Camacho was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week following his 2-0 performance over the second week of the season, Nov. 6-12.
Wrestling at 125 pounds for the No. 3 Wolfpack, Camacho helped lead his team to a 2-0 day at the WrangleMania event, as NC State recorded dominant dual match wins over Bloomsburg (45-4) and No. 25 Purdue (37-3) to move to 4-0 on the season.
Nationally ranked Camacho started his day with a 19-4 technical fall win over Bronson Garber of Bloomsburg, in which he controlled the match from start to finish to put the Wolfpack on track en route to the 45-4 win over the Huskies.
In the heavily anticipated match versus Purdue’s No. 3 Matt Ramos to start off NC State’s second match of the day, Camacho did not disappoint as he came from behind to force a 4-4 tie heading into the third period. In the third period, Camacho got an escape to take the lead for the first time and jumped ahead on a takedown with 45 seconds left in the match to win 8-5.

BOONE, N.C. – When the dust settled in Varsity Gym, Air Force had three champions out of five finalists and seven placers at the Mountaineer Invitational, hosted by Appalachian State on Saturday afternoon. Tucker Owens, Giano Petrucelli and Sam Wolf will return to the Academy with championship titles.
Air Force’s first champion of the day was in the 125 division as No. 22 Tucker Owens bested Kyle Montaperto (UVA) by major decision, 16-7. Owens made a case for outstanding wrestler with a 16-0 technical fall in his opening bout, followed by two 16-point major decisions in the semis and finals. Owens is 4-0 so far this season.
The Falcons’ second champ of the day was No. 28 Giano Petrucelli in the 165 class. Petrucelli rumbled through the opening rounds with a pair of decisions over Appalachian State wrestlers. In the finals, Petrucelli was put to test as his opponent Will Miller (App State) raced out to an early 5-1 lead. BOONE, N.C — Cody Bond, Tommy Askey and Jacob Sartorio all won individual titles Saturday as App State Wrestling had 11 top-three finishers in the top division of the Mountaineer Invitational.
Bond, who suffered a season-ending injury last year, earned a well-earned title with a 5-4 decision against 31st-ranked Michael Gioffre from Virginia in the 149 final. Bond trailed 4-1 entering the third period before getting an escape, delivering a three-point takedown with 33 seconds left and riding out the remainder of the match.
Askey went 4-0 in his 157-pound bracket, ending his run with a 4-2 finals decision over Virginia’s Dylan Cedeno. A takedown with 1:29 left in the second period made the difference.
