NEWBERRY, S.C. – Men’s wrestling wins in dominant fashion of Emory & Henry tonight, 51-6.
Nine wolves claimed victory tonight with seven of those coming from falls, one from a technical fall and the last coming via major decision. In the lone exhibition match, the wolves claimed another victory via fall.
The fastest fall of the night came from the 165 Ib class with Asa Walton pinning in 46 seconds. Every wrestler who won via fall did not let their time match go out of the first period.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – On a historic day for the sport of women’s wrestling, Presbyterian linked up with Iowa, Sacred Heart, and Lindenwood – the first four NCAA Division I schools to enact a women’s wrestling program – for the “Trailblazer Duals” at legendary Carver Hawkeye Arena. One week after starting off the campaign with 22 victories at the Princeton Open, PC was felled by eighth-ranked Iowa (44-1) and fifth-ranked Sacred Heart (26-18) in a frenzied affair, ending the afternoon with a 25-20 triumph versus # 11 Lindenwood in front of a crowd of over 10,000 spectators.
Sophomore Paige Wehrmeister and freshman Alyssa Mahan contributed a combined 17 points for head coach Brian Vutianitis‘ club, while PC raced past Lindenwood to close the four-way on a high behind back-to-back pins by Madeline Kubicki and Henlee Hayes in 155 and 170. University of Montevallo Splits Dual Matches with a win over Allen and a loss to No. 23 Newberry
NEWBERRY, S.C. – The University of Montevallo Wrestling earned its first dual win in program history, Wednesday, with a 32-15 win over Allen before splitting the road trip with a loss to No. 23 Newberry 31-14. In just the second competition in program history, the Falcons picked up the program’s first dual win in dominant fashion. Montevallo won seven-out-of-10 bouts and compiled two major decision victories and three pins. Following the Allen win, UM took on No. 23 Newberry and battled with the Wolves, who were picked to finish second in Conference Carolinas, for most of the match. The Falcons earned wins in three weight classes with a tech fall, pin and a decision. “I’m extremely proud of how our guys wrestled. It’s incredible to start the season off 1-0 against Allen and get our first ever dual win,” said Head Coach Daniel Ownbey. “Then to wrestle Newberry as tough as we did was a great sign. We have a great season ahead of us.”
Freshman Carson Freeman, a native of Alabaster, Alabama, and former Thompson standout Gabe Hixenbaugh were the only to Falcons to finish 2-0 on the evening. Freeman topped Allen’s Ya’Donnis Hardaway with a pin in 4:38 seconds to earn six points for his team before defeating Newberry’s Asa Walton by decision 5-3 for three more points.
