No. 7 Ohio State upsets Big Ten wrestling rival No. 2 Iowa, 21-9
Second-ranked University of Iowa wrestling was ambushed — to use Hawkeye head coach Tom Brands‘ word — by Ohio State, 21-9, in front of 5,684 fans at St. John Arena in Columbus Friday night.
It was the first time the Buckeyes — which are currently ranked No. 7 to No. 10, depending on the website — have defeated the Hawkeyes since 1966, and only the third time in Ohio State history. It was an evening of firsts for Iowa, too: their first loss in 50 road duals, and the first against a Big Ten opponent in 39 duals.
