Carolina (UNC) Announces 2016-17 Wrestling Schedule
CHAPEL HILL — Home duals against national powers Nebraska and Iowa State as well as ACC rivals NC State, Virginia and Virginia Tech highlight the 2016-17 North Carolina wrestling schedule, head coach Coleman Scott announced this week. Carolina opens the season at the Hokie Open on Nov. 6 before traveling to the Northeast Duals on Nov. 13. The Tar Heels then kick off their home schedule on Nov. 19 with a Saturday night dual against Old Dominion.
“I think this is a great schedule that will really challenge our guys,” Scott said. “We’re going to have to grind through January and February to be in a position to compete for championships in the postseason. It’s exciting to have some new teams on the schedule like Nebraska and Iowa State to go with what should be the most competitive ACC rotation in many years.
