This is the 72nd installment of Seven Minutes. It’s a series of interviews with top wrestling coaches and athletes. Most of the question-and-answer sessions last roughly seven minutes. Hence the name. Coyte Cooper was an All-American at Indiana and is currently a motivational speaker. Cooper recently joined Trackwrestling’s Kyle Klingman for this week’s edition of Seven Minutes.
You can listen to the entire interview above or read the transcript below.
If you could take what you know now and have a conversation with yourself at 15, what advice would you give yourself?
I think what I would tell myself is to just learn to love the process. Get clear on what you want with your goals and the outcomes of what you want but just dive into the process and focus on being extraordinary with your habits. If you’re extraordinary with your habits and you’re unbelievably consistent with those things, you can really do some awesome things. I’m proud of what I did when I was 15 but I would encourage myself to tighten up on my morning habits and the things I would do with my mindset and I think that would have made an even bigger difference for me.
