The first-ever D.H. Conley athletics Hall of Fame induction and reception was held in the new gym lobby before the football game with Rose High School on Oct. 8th. While Rose won the game with their ACC-recruited running back, the reception was a big success. In the lobby there are 8 Impressive plaques up on the walls. Each of the 8 was introduced at halftime on the field and A.D. Rob Maloney presented the plaques.
In the first photo is the plaque for coach Sherman. This photo was sent by a former DH Conley wrestler. The 2nd picture is Sherman with his “bookends” with Ricky Phillips as his first of 43 all-state wrestlers in Feb of 1975 then his last in 2004, Matt Taylor. The 3rd photo has team captains Binky Moore and Charles Burnett. Other HOF inductees include Bronswell Patrick, who pitched in the major leagues and state champion and 3 time national Greco champion and Olympic coach James Johnson. There was to be a dinner regarding this, but Covid knocked that for a loop.
