Ferrum Wrestlers Go 3-1 at Cougar Duals
DANVILLE, Virginia — Ferrum College’s men’s wrestling team competed in four meets today at the Cougar Duals, hosted at Averett University’s Grant Center. The Panthers beat Waynesburg University, Emory & Henry College and Fairmont State University, before falling to host Averett.

THE BASICS
Zack Beckner went 4-0 on the day at 133 pounds, including a pair of tech falls, a major decision and a forfeit. Beckner outscored his opponents 47-5 on the day. Rayshawn Dixon went 3-0 on the day with two pins and a decision at 285 pounds. Mateo Villalobos went 3-1 with a pair of tech falls and a major decision at 165 pounds, while Adrian Samano went 2-1 with two pins. Jonathan Ward also had a pair of wins at 141 pounds, as did Joseph Toner at 184 pounds and Johnny Black at 197 pounds.

Men’s Wrestling Earns First Win Against Keystone College at Oneonta Tri-Meet
ONEONTA, NY – The Utica University men’s wrestling team competed at the Oneonta Tri-Meet on Saturday and earned its first win in program history topping Keystone College 23-20. The team also fell to Oneonta State 46-6.

Trevor Cortright (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) started the day strongly pinning Ralph Nieves of Keystone at the 2:09 mark to earn Utica six points in the match. Billy Beseth (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) then topped Justin Santiago by tech fall, 16-1 to put the Pioneers up 11-3 in the contest.
Logan Krouse (Duanesburg, NY/Duanesburg) pinned Mariano Monacelli at the 2:17 mark to give Utica a 17-9 edge. The Pioneers kept the aggression going with Gage Tedesco (Waverly, NY/Waverly) pinning Louis Frisenda at the 2:28 mark to put Utica up 23-9 in the match. Keystone would claw back yet the Pioneers won the match 23-20.

Trevor Cortright (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) capped off his day by pinning Danny Poggi at the 4:36 mark to pick up six points for Utica in the contest.
Seth Richardson (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain) earned a win by decision over Esdras Ramos, 8-1.
The two teams also participated in four exhibition bouts with Utica winning two of them. Golden Bears open dual season with victory
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — WVU Tech wrestling opened its dual season at Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent University of Pikeville with a 24-9 victory Friday evening. The Golden Bears had four grapplers record falls in the dub.
At 157 lbs., sophomore Zach Mullins (Alderson, W.Va.) produced a fall over Brandon Ruiz at 0:50. Another six points were awarded to WVU Tech off a fall from junior Ryan Turney (Churchville, Md.) against Chase Price at 3:51. Freshman John Parks (Charmco, W.Va.) scored a fall (2:06) at 197 lbs. over Tristan Turner. Saint Vincent Wrestling defeats Pitt-Bradford for first dual win
BRADFORD, Pa. (Dec. 8) – By winning each of the evening’s final seven matches, the Saint Vincent College wrestling team defeated Pitt-Bradford, 39-12, to earn its first dual match victory in the team’s modern era.
Trailing 12-6 after three matches, the Bearcats closed the night with seven straight wins to pull away for the historic victory.
“It’s always challenging to drive more than three hours, get on weight and wrestle well,” said SVC head coach Dominick Nania. “The guys really embraced competing and getting back on the mat. I’m really proud of our wrestlers’ effort and willingness to score points for the team.”
Logan Bechtold got the evening started in fine fashion for Saint Vincent, as he pinned the Panthers’ Darren Christian in 4:17 in the 174-pound match to give the visitors the early 6-0 lead.
The Panthers responded by recording pins at 184 and 197, before the 285-pound match saw SVC senior Jake Beistel earn a 12-3 major decision over Gavin Thompson to close the gap to 12-10. The win moved the veteran’s record to 5-1 on the young season.
At 125 pounds, SVC’s Sean Cain outlasted Uriah Morris for a 6-4 decision to give SVC a 13-12 lead, before Ryan Klingensmith won by forfeit at 133 pounds to increase the lead to 19-12. … story at … STVincent.edu/Wrestling-defeats-pitt-bradford-for-first-dual-win
