Cary to honor former wrestling coach Winterton

Cary, N.C. — Cary High School will honor its former wreslting coach Jerry Winterton on Thursday night at the school. Winterton was inducted into the National Federation of State High School Associations Hall of Fame earlier this year. The school will honor his induction during the ceremony on Thursday, which will begin at 5:30 p.m.
During the event, Cary will be unveiling a banner in the school’s gymnasium in honor of Winterton. In 29 years as the wrestling coach at Cary, Winterton compiled a regular season record of 540-3 in dual meets. Including postseason play, that record expanded to 620-16.
