RALEIGH, N.C. – The Wolfpack had four wrestlers finish with a perfect record in ACC duals, and enter Sunday’s 2021 ACC Championship with four No. 1 seeds as the ACC announced the brackets.
R-Sr. Tariq Wilson (141 pounds), R-Sr. Hayden Hidlay (157), R-Sr. Daniel Bullard (174) and Jr. Deonte Wilson (285) all went undefeated in conference action this season and all earned top seeds. Wilson was one of only two ACC wrestlers to go a perfect 5-0, the other three from NC State were 4-0.
NC State led the ACC for four No. 1 seeds, followed by Pitt with three, Virginia Tech with a pair and North Carolina with one.
The Pack only had a pair of No. 1 seeds each of the last four years, and the four this year are the most since the 2016 team title.
Defending ACC champion R-So. Jakob Camacho (125) and classmate Trent Hidlay (184) both earned the #2 seeds at their weights.
In the six-team ACC, the #1 and #2 seeds receive a bye into the semifinals.
The remaining Pack seeds: R-So. Jarrett Trombley is #5 at 133 pounds, Fr. Ed Scott is #3 at 149, R-Sr. Thomas Bullard #5 at 165 and R-Sr. Nick Reenan #4 at 197.
The 2021 ACC Championship will take place Sunday inside Reynolds Coliseum. NC State has won the ACC title the last two years, and will be looking to capture its third straight for the first time since the late 1980s.
