Fresno City Reclaims Wrestling Title on Championship Saturday
LEMOORE, Calif. – The Fresno City Wrestling team reclaimed its spot at the top of the state as the Rams finished with 214 points to lead the field as all 12 of their wrestlers earned spots on the podium at the 2022 CCCAA Wrestling State Championships.
FCC also had five state champions with Devin Murphy (133lbs), Jackson Morgan (157lbs), Jake Prudek (174lbs), Luke Meyer (184lbs), and Rudy Garcia (197lbs), helping them secure their fifth championship since 2016 and 18th in school history.
Mt. San Antonio and Cerritos jousted for second place all tournament and saw their battle come down to the wire. With 154.5 points, Mounties held off the Cerritos Falcons who finished just short at 153.5 points.

Mount Olive tallies two wins at Trojan Duals
MOUNT OLIVE (Dec. 11) – The University of Mount Olive men’s wrestling team secured 13 victories and posted a pair of wins over Emmanuel and Greensboro on Sunday afternoon at the Trojan Duals hosted in Kornegay Arena.
With the wins, the Trojans improve to 8-2 overall and with the victory over Emmanuel move to 3-0 this season in conference action. Mount Olive remains undefeated in the league alongside UNC Pembroke and Lander, who both have three wins.

Against Emmanuel, the Lions took an early 3-0 advantage following a win by a 5-1 decision in the 125 weight class before freshman Jeffrey Richards (133) battled to a 3-0 decision over Harvey Ridings to tie the meet at 3-3. Emmanuel responded with an 11-2 major decision at 141 to take a 7-3 lead before the Trojans rattled off four-straight wins. Redshirt freshman Dallas Wilson (149) had a dominant performance to post an 18-1 technical fall over Clayton Frost to give UMO an 8-7 advantage. Redshirt junior Michael Vernagallo followed with another impressive showing after recording a 16-0 technical fall against Gage Shetley in the 157 weight class. UNC-Pembroke Wrestling Steamrolls Bluefield State, Davis & Elkins
ELKINS, W.Va. – The UNC Pembroke wrestling team recorded 16 bonus-point victories, including 13 pins, to roll to a pair of victories at the Davis & Elkins Tri-Meet inside D&E’s McDonnell Center. The Braves opened the day with a 49-3 rout of Bluefield State, and closed out the trip to northwest West Virginia with a lopsided 49-6 win over the host Senators.
The Braves (6-1) amassed 53 takedowns and six near falls across the two matches to improve to 4-1 away from Pembroke this season. Bluefield State (2-1) absorbed their first setback of the season, while Davis & Elkins (1-5) closed out the event with a split after picking up their first win of the season against the Big Blue. Both teams are led by former UNCP wrestlers Blaze Shade (BSU) and Andrew Colborn (D&E).
Bluefield State got on the board first with a 6-2 decision by Luke Roberts in the opening match of the afternoon, but the Braves closed out the dual with nine-straight individual victories. Millner Named SoCon Wrestler of the Month
BOONE, N.C. — App State Wrestling’s Jon Jon Millner has been named the SoCon Wrestler of the Month for November, when he posted a 10-0 record and climbed to No. 2 in the national rankings at 149 pounds.
Millner opened the season with a 6-0 shutout of NC State’s Jackson Arrington, who has moved into the top 20 of their weight class, before making unbeaten runs to titles at the Mountaineer Invitational and Keystone Classic. Three of the other nine wins were against wrestlers with top-25 rankings, and he posted four pins in November.
After opening December with four wins at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. Millner is 14-2 this season and 106-23 in his career. Gardner-Webb’s Mosley named SoCon Wrestler of the Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Gardner- Webb’s RJ Mosley has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6. The selection is made by the league office.
Mosley went 6-0 last week as he grabbed two wins in a tri-meet with Bloomsburg and George Mason on Friday, Dec. 2, and four victories at the Arms Software Patriot Open in Fairfax, Virginia, on Sunday, Dec. 4. David Hunsberger named SACC Wrestler of The Week
GREENVILLE, S.C. – For the second time this season, the No. 4 Lander wrestling team has been awarded a conference weekly award.
David Hunsberger was announced as the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Wrestler of The Week by the conference office on Tuesday.
Hunsberger went 4-0 at the Carolina Clash this past Saturday. He finished with a tech fall, a pin and two wins by decision.
He started the day off strong as he recorded a 16-0 tech fall against Kentucky Wesleyan before recording a pin against Simon Fraser in the first period in his second match.
