#19 Wrestling Battles to 19-17 Win Over North Carolina on Saturday Night

PHILADELPHIA – The 19th-ranked University of Pennsylvania wrestling team opened the 2023 portion of its dual meet schedule with a 19-17 win over the University of North Carolina at The Palestra on Saturday night. The Red and Blue took a 10-6 lead with a tech fall at 197 pounds by #33 Cole Urbas, a lead they would not relinquish on the night.

The meet started with the 165-pound match up between #29 Lucas Revano and Joey Mazzara. Revano battled throughout the bout as he was down by two after the first and second periods. A couple of stalling calls on Mazzara gave Revano points to pull within one, but it was Mazzara who pulled out the 5-4 decision. Penn bounced back in the second bout at 174 pounds between #18 Nick Incontrera and Gino Esposito. Incontrera made quick work of his Tar Heel opponent as he jumped out to an 11-0 lead after the first period. Incontrera clinched the tech fall with just over a minute remining in the second period. … rest of story at Pennathletics.com/news/2023/1/8/-19-wrestling-battles-to-19-17-win-over-north-carolina-on-saturday
