Mount Olive earns victory at Allen, 26-18

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Jan. 31) – After collecting six victories on Wednesday night, the University of Mount Olive men’s wrestling team extended their winning streak following a 26-18 win at Allen in a Conference Carolinas dual meet.
With the win, the Trojans have won nine consecutive duals dating back to early December and improve to 11-1 overall behind a 6-1 mark in league duals. Mount Olive remains in a close battle in the east division with Newberry and UNC Pembroke boasting identical records in the conference standings. Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets drop to 7-8 this season with a 1-6 mark in league meets.
In the 125-weight class, junior Lens Mathurin delivered a dominant performance over Reco Robinson with a 23-8 tech fall before redshirt junior Timothy Decatur (133) registered a 17-1 tech fall against Trent Bowser to build a 10-0 advantage for the Trojans. Allen closed the gap to 10-9 by claiming a fall at 141 and followed up with a victory via a 10-6 decision at 149.
Junior Jake Nicolosi responded with a 13-5 major decision versus Dharrin Smith in the 157-weight class before redshirt sophomore Seth Thomas produced a fall over Ya`Donnis Hardaway to extend the lead, 20-9. The Yellow Jackets countered with a fall at 174 to trim the deficit to 20-15 while redshirt junior Colby Teague (184) answered with a 10-8 decision against Michael Jackson.
