Newberry Wolves Put On A Show In First Home Dual Of Season

Newberry Dominates Home Bout To Move To 2-0 On The Season
NEWBERRY,S.C. — In the first home match of the 2022-2023, Head Coach Deral Brown and the Wolves (2-0, 2-0 SACC) put on a show for the home crowd with a 43-12 win over Lincoln Memorial. The night was dominated by the Wolves as all wins came in the form of pins, technical falls, and major decisions. Even after two forfeits from the opposing team, the team remained focused and turned their attention to getting a result for Newberry in a packed Eleazer Arena.

The night would get started at 125 lbs, but the Wolves would not be able to get the dual started on a high note as the Wolves would go down by pin. At 133 lbs, Timothy Decatur (Goldsboro, N.C.) would soon change the mood as he would pin his opponent, though if he would have completed his move he would have had a tech fall victory by a score of 21-5. A second loss for the Wolves in the 141 lb weight class would be the last time a Wolf would not get their hand raised as Newberry would go on a roll after.

UNC-Pembroke Rumbles Past Limestone In Home Dual Debut
PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke wrestling team tacked up 21 takedowns and six near falls on the way to registering seven bonus-point victories on the night, and the Braves captured their home dual opener for the fifth-straight season with a 39-12 triumph over visiting Limestone on Tuesday at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.
 
It was the 18th win in the last 19 home dual meets for the Braves (2-0, 2-0 SACC) who have now won three-straight matches in the 18-year-old series with the Saints as well. It was the dual meet opener for Limestone (0-1, 0-1) who fell to 1-8 all-time against the Black & Gold in Pembroke.

LIMESTONE Women’s Wrestling Drops Home-Opener to Brewton-Parker, 31-13

GAFFNEY, S.C.- The Limestone University women’s wrestling team fell to Brewton-Parker College on Tuesday, November 15 in the Timken Center by a final score of 31-13. The contest was much closer than the final score suggests, as BPC, the 13th-ranked team in the NAIA, secured 15 points via forfeit.

The Barons started the contest with a 15-0 advantage thanks to three-consecutive forfeit victories in the 101, 109, and 116-lb. divisions. BP’s Alesandra Burgos earned a 10-0 technical fall victory over junior Caroline Schmitt (Orlando, Fla) in the 123-lb. weight class. Senior Alyssa Garza (Willis, Texas) suffered a technical fall defeat to Madisyn Blackburn in the 130-lb. division, putting the visitors ahead 18-0.
